This program is an important outreach ministry for our church as it fills a niche seldom recognized by church leaders. Wildlife without an advocate often succumbs to extinction. God made ALL creatures and scripturally we are commanded to care for all of His creation, wildlife included. Caring for Christ’s Creatures has, in reality, been in existence without a name or a sponsor for over 40 years as a private individual’s passion to care for all God’s living creatures. Permitted by the State of Maine since July 1978 to conduct wildlife rehabilitation, Karen Hawkins cared for native wildlife, either personally rescued by her or brought to her by caring, concerned citizens. She has since been permitted by the Federal Department of Fish & Wildlife to care for federally protected wildlife as well. It is with much gratitude Karen wishes to express her heartfelt thanks to the Bridgton United Methodist Church for their willingness to support this ministry by allowing her to operate under their 501c3 non-profit status. This will allow her to offer potential donors a tax exempt receipt as well as allow her to canvass for various items needed to properly care for the wildlife that needs her help. I found a baby, what do I do now?
